NPIA provides service of testing cashmere fibre for purity, count and other specification with steps as follows
Step One

Company who are interested to have their fibre can drop that sample to NPIA office, pay a minimla charge.
Step Two

After receiving the sample from members , NPIA sends to Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) with details of test required ( count , composition , fibre diameter etc.) .
Step Three

NBSM charge some fee for testing.
Step Four

We can also send the samples to provide testing service from SGS or Intertek if required by members, with certain fees.
Quality Standards
- Fiber Diameter: Should not exceed 17 microns.
- Fiber Purity: The yarn should have a minimum of 97% Pashmina fiber.
- Fiber Strength: Not specified.
- Fiber Composition: If mixed with any other fibers, the yarn should have a minimum of 51% Pashmina content.
- Yarn Count: Not specified.
- Color Fastness: The fiber should feature durable color fastness.
- Harmful AZO Dyeing Usage: The fiber should be free from harmful AZO dyeing.
